GeForce GT 750M 2GB GDDR5 Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
GeForce GT 750M v4 is a Fast-Middle-Class Mobile Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Kepler Architecture.

Architecture
The Kepler Architecture was NVIDIA's big step to power efficiency. Each Stream Multiprocessor (SMX) now hosts 192 Shader Processing Units - against the 48 of older Fermi Architecture, and has been redesigned being now clocked at the same speed of the Central Unit. This means they are more energy efficient and will consequently lead to cooler operating temperatures. However, it also means they are weaker. It can be said that one Fermi SMX is as fast as 2 Kepler SMXs.
Additionally, and not available in all GPUs, Kepler also introduced the Boost Clock Feature. The Boost Clock is an even higher Clock Speed activated when in gaming mode and becomes the effective speed of the GPU.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed GK107-N14P-GT which has 2 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 384 Shader Processing Units, 32 TMUs and 16 ROPs. The Central Unit is initially clocked at 941MHz and goes up to 1058MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 128-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 1000MHz.

Features
DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for SLI, Kepler Boost, Optimus, CUDA, OpenCL, DirectCompute, 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 50W, it is suited for average sized laptops.

Performance
GeForce GT 750M v2 is essentially a fast GeForce GTX 660M.
Gaming benchmarks indicate its performance is only slightly below the desktop GeForce GTX 650.

System Suggestions
We recommend a decent processor (Intel Core i5 Mobile) and 8GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GT 750M v4.

What's the best CPU match for this card?
I'm looking at a MSI laptop with this card and it has a i5-3230m cpu.
Just wondering if that CPU is good enough for this graphics card.

I think the best CPU for this card is an I7. If you are looking to buy a new lappy i would try my best to not go previous gen(the i5-3230m is third gen). There are a ton of websites out there that keep track of laptop deals. I used slick deals to find this laptop.
Having said that. The 3230m is a good cpu. It is a dual Core (with hyperthreading) and can handle most games of this gen because few game can use more than 2-4 cores efficiently. However, Next gen games will be able to use more cores like an I7 with hyperthreading. If you have time i would be patient because computer tech advances quickly and you don't want to spend a lot of money on a lappy that is out of date in a yr.

The way I see it is that it's a endless cycle. Any laptop(well maybe not a uber high costly one) will get outdated in a year due to the fast tech advancement. Just have to pay the price at one time.

That is very true! However, if you buy last years tech your laptop will be out of date a lot earlier. I was patient and ended up taking a month to buy this laptop(738 before tax). If i am willing to go down to 1366x768 i doubt i will have to buy a new gaming laptop for probably 5 years considering i can max almost any game on 1080p right now.(5 years might be a bit much but you get the idea). I sold my 3 year old Asus gaming laptop for 750 to buy this lappy! It was a GREAT idea! Patience is the key in getting a great gaming laptop.

There's a mistake: The GDDR5 version gains the upper-hand on higher resolutions (1600x900, 1980x800) it's supposed to be 1920x1080, just saying

What kind of laptop only had 1 GB of GDDR5 ram? I didn't think the gddr5 version came with 1 gb. Oh and it might be just barely. The ddr3 version can play bordelands in ultra on 1080p and get 28.7 fps so i would say you would be alright.

Always worth it to upgrade. If you go by Game-debate then it is a 9 star graphics card. Which is INSANE for a laptop.

It is true that it is the same card as the 660m but it has a higher clock rate. This card is 10-11 percent better than the 660m because you would have to overcook a 660m 10-11 percent to match the performance.
