Radeon R9 290 Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
Radeon R9 290 is a High-End Graphics Card based on the First Revision of the Graphics Core Next (GCN) Architecture.

Architecture
The GCN 1.1 revision of the Graphics Core Next Architecture adds new important technologies and is largely oriented for energy efficiency. New technologies such as PowerTune and TrueAudio are the biggest additions as well as DirectX 11.2 support.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed Hawaii PRO which has 60 Compute Units activated and thus offers 2560 Shader Processing Units, 160 TMUs and 64 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 947MHz.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 4GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 512-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is adequate. The Memory Clock Operates at 1250MHz.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 275W, it requires at least a 750W PSU with one available 6-pin and one available 8-pin connectors.

Performance
Radeon R9 290 competes with GeForce GTX 780
but it proves to be slower than the latter at resolutions up to 1920x1080 but takes the lead beyond that.

System Suggestions
Radeon R9 290 is best suited for resolutions up to and including 2560x1440. We recommend a Very Strong Processor and 8GB of RAM for Optimal Performance.

Ohh. Sorry. I didn't see what you meant. I recommend you to buy MSI GTX 1060 Gaming X Edition. It's as good as a GTX 980 Ti FE. It also has a small power consumption, and it comes with 6GB of VRAM. It's one of the best cards for 1080p, ultra, 60FPS gaming. It won't be a bottleneck with the i5 4690. Good luck!

I have no idea. I guess to make rooms for the Pascal and Polaris gpus. I honestly don't know why. This card is a beast and so is the 970 but they dropped in score.

Hi, Can someone tell me how many watts my PSU has and if this would work? My PSU only shows 100-127/200-240V-6/3A. How many watts is that, and what is a good GPu for this wattage?

Can you write all numbers you have on your psu label
What you wrote are voltages in wall sockets, they are different around world, some countries use100-127V and some 200-240V, so your psu have some switch and work everywhere, good to know, nothing about its wattage though

That's the thing. It looks like the numbers got scratched off or ripped or something, cause that's all the info for the PSU I have, outside and inside the case. I've looked up those numbers and some said I could have a 500W PSU.

You mean they said those numbers mean 500W? wow, thats some powerful sorcery :-D
Now seriously, no, I cant say you wattage from that, nobody can, that 6/3A is followed by 50Hz or 60 or both, which is frequency and its handlet by transformer, so again nothing helpful

i just want to get some final feedback before going a shop and checking with an expert.

1) will I be able to fit this in my computer?
2) will it bottleneck?
3) also, can I even run this thing?

We don't know what case you have, but the reference model is less than 27cm long I believe, which is not that long. Your cpu is likely to bottleneck this gpu, and you can't overclock that cpu with that motherboard.

It really depends on which PSU model it is. 900W could be enough, but if it's always been a bad one, or if it's from 2009 and used for a very long time, it could be too little.

Everything will run as fast as the cpu can handle it. Mind you, btw, that you can't really upgrade your cpu much more with that motherboard (the best would be a Core 2 Quad Q9700). But you will get a big improvement in gaming performance.

If you're sure your PSU can handle the card, then yes. You can probably just stick in an extra module if you've got a vacant slot left.

Depends on the cooler that's used, but usually they'll have equal dimensions.
