GeForce GTX 980 4GB, AKA GeForce GTX 990M, is a High-End Mobile Graphics Card based on the Second Revision of the Maxwell Architrcture.


Architecture
GeForce GTX 980 4GB Features a GPU Codenamed GM-204 which is a Second Gen GCN GPU and is identical to the GM204-400-A1 GPU used on the Desktop GeForce GTX 980.
GM-204 has 16 Compute Units Unlocked and thus offers 2048 Shader Processing Units, 128 TMUs and 64 ROPs.

The Central Unit is Clocked at 1126MHz and goes up to 1190MHz, in Turbo Mode.


Memory: Speed
The GPU is equipped with fast GDDR5 and Accesses the Frame Buffer through a 256-bit Memory Interface. The Memory Clock Operates at 1750MHz.


Memory: Frame Buffer
The GPU can fill up a Memory Pool of up to 4GB.


Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 165W, it is suited for very large laptops.

Performance is Identical to the Desktop GeForce GTX 980 4GB.
Therefore, GeForce GTX 980 4GB is the Fastest Single Mobile Graphics Card as of 09/2015 and only Surpassed by Notebooks with GeForce GTX 980M in SLI.

So… this version of GTX 980 is 1% better than last year's GTX 980, despite having lower boost clock and memory clock? Or it it just to do with the recommended CPU or release date?


Either way, laptops have definitely got on level with desktops!

so will you still keep it at M model? or remove it and leave at as it be now at desktop gpu the GTX 980 because i think is the same think no gpu need to be added. they just put the desktop gpu to a laptop. right?

it's not 100% the same Graphics Card. For example it doesn't have display connections or power connectors.

Apparently this will be just as good as the GTX 980 Desktop version according to some sources which is quite hard to believe what do you guys think ?

With the Operating Memory Clock being 2.0GHz lower, it will offer performance on level of GeForce GTX 970 which is still quite nice :D
