GeForce GTS 360M Game Requirement Analysis

GeForce GTS 360M is a fast-middle-class GFX based on the second shader unified architecture.
It's based on the GT 215 Core and offers 96 Shader Processing Units, 32 TMUs and 8 ROPs on a 128-bit memory interface of fast GDDR5, although DDR3 is also supported. The central unit runs at 575MHz and the memory clock operates at up to 900MHz.
It's at heart an overclocked GeForce GTS 260M and should perform slightly better than it.
Today's modern demanding games can be played at medium settings smoothly, using a 720p resolution. Beware that DirectX 11 games aren't supported.

On 16(635/2000/1323) percent overclock the texture fillrate goes up to 20.3 GTexels/s almost the same as the 460m (between 21-22 GTexel/s). However the pixel fillrate only goes up to 5.1 GPixel/s (460m has 16 GPixel/s) luckily the texture fillrate is more important in gaming! Woot! Unfortunelty the 460m has a lot more shader units and a faster shader clock.

You can upgrade. But you have to find a GTX 260m that is taken from an asus G51j or g60j series. It should fit perfectly and it a small upgrade considering you won't find one for less than 160 dollars. You will gain around 10 fps on the crisis 1 GPU benchmark. I have researched this EXTENSIVELY because I have basically the same laptop as you. If you overclock it just a little the 360m can still do very well. I play skyrim on high(but with x4 AA and AF) with 30-50 fps depending what is going on around me on my native res. I can play metro last light on high with around 20 fps that is with a 635/2000/1323 overclock. I don't mess with the shader clock because that tends to cause the card to go crazy.

I have this Gpu, does a fierce good job considering it's classed as a medium Gpu. Losing a star was inevitable considering Nividia released those 4/5 new Gpu. Pity.
