1070 and 1080 both work in SLI. 1060 and lower doesn't have any support for SLI.

This can be judged by the Absence of SLI connectors on the 1060 and lower cards which on the other hand is available on both the 1070 and 1080 cards.

Would a 1070, specifically a factory OC'd aftermarket one, be a worthy upgrade from my current 970? I'm hesitant because of the current pricing being above MSRP.

For NOW no
Maybe another 6 months to a year

I will say however that this GPU will give you ULTRA 1080p 60fps on virtually any game it touches and also handles 4k Ultra 45-60 fps on MOST games as well

You can max any game pretty much on that res with your current GPU,except maybe few like ark, watch dogs2 which have very bad optimization and even gtx 1070 is having trouble with them.Anyway its not worth to upgrade from gtx 970 to a 1070,its not that big increase in performance.

Hello, does anyone know if this card with i7-6700HQ and 16gb ddr4, could run witcher 3 on ultra with hairworks on 1080p? I'm looking for a cheapest laptop that can do that. I travel quite a bit so pc is no good for me.

I´ve been deciding between 2 options. 1. is combination of 1070 and i5 6400 and the 2. combination of 1060 6G and i5 6600k. What is better for completly new pc

Between the two I think 1060 6GB + i5-6600K would be better option for 1080p gaming. But if you play latest titles with high-res textures, high antialiasing settings, DSR, or at 1440p then go for 1070 & i5-6400 combo.
