ok people in order to apply overclocking setting put your pc in high performace mode as this also effects your overall pc i went from balanced mode to high performance and my gfx card went from 7.8 to 7.9 and ssd hard drive went from 5.9 to 7.8 and ocing the card makes serious sam bfe playable at 20 fps constant with my card overclocked by 5 percent :)

I used iturbo from HIS to overclock my card. Just press 1 button and it boosts it by like 50 mhz, brought my card to 7.9 :D

ah ok cool im looking at the his 7970 but the 8970 rumored to come out in april so ill wait then hopfully by april ill have 700 bucks saved still cannt belive the 7970 was 700 top end and now its 400 au bucks :P

Yes the card is better performing, and slightly faster than the 7870 aswell. Just google HD 6970 vs HD 7850 and there will be a website called hwcompare. my friend is also having 6970 at stock settings but the temp of card at idle is about 52-54 c where as 99% load it is around 85to89 c fans are at stock.
at temp around 90 c fan run about 80 t0 85%
is this normal ? room temp is around 27 to 30 c

Actually, yes they do. Seen here, the 670 outclasses the 6970 in every test, including BF3, where the 670 won by a large margin, nearly double the FPS.

chris: I have the OC version of this GPU and I can assure you, it DOESN'T achieve 60 FPS without AA on the biggest maps with 64 players. So no, this GPU WILL NOT dominate BF3, never.
Look at my rig, it's a beast right? And still, I can't get 60 FPS on Caspian Border, Conquest Large, 64 players.
I don't mean to be rude but please, do some research before stating your 'facts'.
Our members rely on getting legitimate info on this site and you're providing them with false info.
Yeah the specs are similar but the performance isn't. Period.

did u even see what i wrote?it seems like i never seen it?>..most of bench 670 is really better big difference and on other the difference is small.i admit that 670 is a better card.but not SO MUCH.on bf3 is twice better than 6970 because bf3 is better optimized for nvidia cards..even gtx 570 beats 6970 on bf3 because it is better optimized for nvidia..but generally 6970 is faster than 570

theres only 1 game i cannt play and its too late to get another one as in australia they going out of stock and the 6000 series are getting replaced by the 7000 series so now im thinking of saving up for the 7990 when it hits later this year :)
