GeForce GT 540M Review
GeForce GT 540M is a middle-class mobile GPU still based on the 2010 Fermi architecture.
It's based on the Fermi GF108 Core and offers 96 Shader Processing Units, 16 TMUs and 4 ROPs on a 128-bit memory interface of 1GB DDR3. The central clock runs at 672MHz and the memory clock operates at 900MHz. Expect a power consumption of up to 35 Watts.
GeForce GT 540M is essentially a higher clocked GeForce GT 525M and so expect to only be able to play most modern demanding games at medium settings but with very fluent frame rates (40+) using a 720p resolution.

I never tried running any of those with this GPU but I can tell you that Skyrim and Dishonored run in high settings smoothly. Hope this helped.

Recently my card has been getting a lot hotter. My fans are clean, and i play most games on low to medium on 1280 x 720 but my temps have risen by 10 to 15 degrees C. My idle temp is still around 45 (b/c ambient temp is kinda high right now, but it has only risen by 3-5 degrees max since winter) but when playing games i used to get 75 - 80 degrees on, i am now getting 90+.
any help? Thanks.

Try cleaning out the dust in your laptop, by spraying it out with a container of compressed air. Turn your laptop off before doing that though.

Make sure you are running those games with GT 540M and not Intel HD 3000. Check in the NVIDIA Panel.

Hey Guys! I noticed that my friends Rig runs games better than mine! Even tho I have slightly better Hardware than him. Please check below to see if i'm missing something…
MINE is the ACER and His is the DELL
Acer Aspire 5755G vs Dell Nxxxx (Not sure of the name)
Intel Core i5-2430M 2.4GHz vs Intel Core i5-2410M 2.3GHz
8GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM vs 8GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM
Nvidia GT 540M (1GB) vs Nvidia GT 525M (1GB)
750 5400rpm HDD vs 640 5400rpm HDD
1366x768 vs 1366x768
Is it because i have AVG Installed? What Anti-Virus software do you gamers recomm

You have raised the only thing that doesn't boost performance, in this case - the memory clock. You need to raise the core-clock. You can safetly raise it to 800MHz.
Now, go the NVIDIA PANEL (left click on windows desktop) and to to the "Manage 3D settings" tab. On there, make sure the GPU set to play is your 540M. Select High performance :D

That will be overclocking it. how safe is dat for a lappy GPU? As my GPU Hits 50 degrees already when it's not in use. And i do not have a cooler pad. can't get original ones here. Also, i always set GPU to Auto because electricity is not d best here so i need the Intel GPU to run most times and the GT 540M for only select programs. e.g Games! :D
Finally are you saying i shud set Core to 800 and memory to 900? And what max temps are safe over a long period of time say 2 hours? Sorry for the many many questions. lol. Thanks Pip mate :D

Well auto will make some games run with Intel HD 3000 instead, thus your friend gets better FPS.

Lol. Mate the I know about the auto stuff. i have been a victim lol. After i formatted my laptop Win 8 back to 7. My NBA 2K12 was soo laggy and bad resolution. It was after about 2 whole weeks dat i checked and saw dat it was running with Intel HD Crap. i felt soo stupid. Lol. I forgot because FIFA was automatically running with GT 540M. I thought CUDA technology was using High Performance GT 540M for heavy tasks and Intel Crapy 3000 for regular/ light tasks? If I'm not wrong. lol
Also, funny thing is dat he NEVER upgraded his graphics driver not even ONCE! over a year now. lol

Please can someone give me the settings to use in Nvidia Control Panel so that my Games will run at the optimum state? like all them AA and Gamma correction, Tripple buffering, those settings. :)

0
Pip
10:48 Mar-13-2013

Sure.
Single Display Mode on the Multi-Display/mixed GPU Acceleration.
Tripple Buffering always on if V-Sync On.
and I guess the rest should be automatic as it depends on the game..

Put "Single Display Performance" on Multi-Display. Put "Prefer Maximum performance" on "Power Management Mode" and, on the top, Select High-Performance GPU instead of "Auto-Select" :D
