At stock, they're comparable performance-wise. Getting an older GPU isn't really an upgrade, considering 9600GT supports up to DX10 and heats more.

I found on Wikipedia the shader version of nvidia geforce 9600gt is 4.0. So, the shader version shown by GD is incorrect.
