Radeon HD 7970 Review
Radeon HD 7970 is the successor of the powerful Radeon HD 6970 and part of the 7000 Series released by AMD in 2011/2012.
With the release of the AMD 12.11 Drivers, the performance was increased and is now superior to GeForce GTX 670 but still behind GeForce GTX 680. Not manufactured anymore, it was tweaked and later released as Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition, which as of October 2012, became the fastest single GPU available.
Therefore, all games, including very demanding ones, should be fully playable at max settings and with very attractive resolutions.

Mazasrb, I also thought that GD's rating system is a bit ridiculous to imply a 660Ti that runs on par with a 7970 :) But still my card is very quick and I am happy with it! Definitely value for money.

They go back and forth the 7970 is cheaper and has 3gb of vram. The gtx680 uses less power but is crippled when it comes to compute power for games like Civilization.

For me it was but for someone else that don't need the compute power, wants less power use, Physics, and Cuda it wont be. It really does go back and forth. I do think 2gb of vram will not be enough for some games in the future with mods and stuff.

i don't think you should oc any more you have got a nice oc and your in 7970 territory, imo you should be good where you're at for now as for lifespan i doubt heat would be the problem it is a HIS ICEQ cooler so for lifespan i'd say it would last till your next upgrade, keep in mind try to stay under 80 degrees idle, as that should be a load temp ( but i'm sure you knew that :D)

get back a little, 25% of OC is much for a GPU. i think you don't want to kill it.

Is that the Case PSU? It's got a rather low amperage to be 500W, only delivering 300W through 12V. I'd actually suggest upgrading your PSU, since HD7970 is quite power hungry, and requires a 6pin and 8pin connector, although that would be set with a molex adapter.

Insted of going for another GPU I'd suggest another PSU. That way you expand your choices and can get better hardware without worrying about your power.

HW compare is very unreliable their " benchmarks" are based on pure calculations not on practical in game benchmarks. They cannot be trusted. 690 is maybe 40-50% faster than 7970GHz.
