GeForce GTX 660M Review
GeForce GTX 660M is a fast-middle-class GFX (despite its GTX naming).
It's Based on the Kepler GK107 Core and therefore offers 384 CUDA Cores. It can be addressed as a GeForce GT 650M with GDDR5 or as a GeForce GT 650M GDDR5 with a faster central unit. Benchmarks indicate its performance is not much better than GeForce GT 650M and comes at a much higher price making GeForce GTX 660M a bad purchase considering its price to performance ratio. Despite its naming "GTX" its performance is very limited. Gaming enthusiasts will need to move further in the Series (GeForce GTX 670MX, GTX 675M, etc) if they desire fluent FPS at 1080p.

I'm not sure about my twin brother's. He has a 3720QM, he has a GTX660M in a package, and he is changing out his Radeon HD6990M. Will it run well?
lakewashoceanbath
23:52 Apr-23-2013

yeah, it will. Plus, he will get a 50-60% performance increase.:)

The gtx 660m is somewhat an overclocked Gt 650m.
it probably has an upgraded fan to keep it cool so i wouldn't recommend, because my 650m gets quite hot, even on an external cooler below to keep it cooler.
Also the heat wil decrease the lifespan of your laptop.

5% or 10% could be fine, you want to overclock it a bit and test.
And do that over again until your GPU is stable.
lakewashoceanbath
02:13 Mar-20-2013

i only turn on my 15% OC when i have my Notepal X-Slim with me. With a cooling pad, OCing should be fine.

:D Go ahead and overclock your GPU. I overclock my GPU on 5% and the temperature? will never go higher than 73C!(playing far cry 3 on all high settings) and note I don't have cooler that time and don't have good ventilation in my room. the card is good in overclocking though just don't make it to much and always monitor the temperature. and remember it has turbo boost up to 950mhz.

I safely overclock this gpu to 1230 mhz using an unlocked bios and during heavy gaming I do not go above 75 degrees, very useful for squeezing out 6-10 more frames depending on how the game responds to an overclock, for example on ultra with shadows set to very high I average 53 fps bioshock infinit

I played recently Crysis 3 AA:low, Graphics details: Medium, Graphics Specs:High and surprisingly I got 35-60fps and take note I haven't overclock yet the card in a state of 70degC max. :) and no cooling pad in additional.

So my choice to save 200 euros and get 2 gb less ram and gt 650m isntead off this was okay ? I think that it was cause 8% better gpu and 2gb ram is not worth 200 euros.

it is not really a waste. i got my laptop for 800. this card handles like a champ i can run just about anything in ultra and if not in high. i really dont put too much faith in benchmark testing sometimes. i was told i wouldnt be able to get past 30 fps in arkham city in high. i play it on ultra with AA maxed out and i get 90fps. I play Hitman Absolution and i get 60 with ultra.
