Radeon HD 6970 Asus Edition Review
Radeon HD 6970 Asus Edition is a tweaked Radeon HD 6970 and part of the Radeon HD 6000 Series released by AMD in 2010/2011.
The only difference between Radeon HD 6970 Asus Edition and Radeon HD 6970 appears to be the core clock, which was only raised from 880MHz to 890MHz.
Benchmarks indicate a 1% performance boost when compared to the standard Radeon HD 6970.
All demanding games, including very demanding one's like Metro 2033/The Witcher II will run on the highest settings.

On your list of games, you say you ultra war of the roses beta with 60 fps. What FPS do you achieve when you max the beta?
Tero
22:09 Sep-08-2012

I guess you're talking to me :D
If you look closely enough, you'll notice that I got 80 FPS ;)

Did some overclocking and I got this clocked @945MHz/1535MHz (6140 effective).
3DMark Vantage results:
Stock clocks P21781 (22126/20806), FPS (68.82/60.67)
Overclocked P22681 (23281/21184), FPS (72.64/64.08)
So I ended up with 900 more Marks (see what I did there?) and +4 FPS :D
Much to my surprise, even the CPU score rose a bit :D
I used AMD OverDrive to OC.
And for anyone who is interested, the current memory bandwidth is 196.48GB/s ;)

Impressive work TM :D are you going to try to push it further? ⌂
Tero
13:58 Jul-03-2012

Can't go any further (at least with AMD OverDrive)... :D
5MHz more core and the drivers crash, 5MHz more RAM speed and artifacts appear ;)

What are the in-game improvements? ⌂
Tero
14:49 Jul-03-2012

Haven't tried the 2 games that my rig struggles with (Witcher II & Metro 2033) yet, other games run as good as they did earlier (I use Vsync) ;)

@Tero- What Problem With Metro 2033???
I Mean Your Rig IS Really Awesome So Why The Struggle???
alt639
18:31 Aug-05-2012

Metro 2033 is the most demanding game available right now. You either need a high end 28nm card or two high end 40nm cards to get it running above 60 fps at ultra settings, mainly because of the extreme quality of the DX11 effects that it uses.

@alt639-- Sure But It Is.But Isn't Tero's Rig Good Enough To Run It Without Errors???
alt639
18:48 Aug-05-2012

Yes it can run it very well, but if he tried to use the maximum settings, it wouldn't be very playable. A GTX 580, the rough equivalent of Tero's card, gets 35 fps on average at his resolution, seen here.

Be aware that this card takes 3 expansion slots... I had to change my SATA cables to be able to fit this beast in to my rig. :D

I'm still thinking about overclocking this... I know I don't have to but with core set to 974MHz and RAM @ 1528MHz (found on a website) I'm curious to see what 3DMark 11 would say :D

the msi lightning edition doesn't takes 3 slots it takes only 2 slots and it is more expensive than this but its expensive for a reason..the xfx edition of the hs 6970 is more expensive than the msi lightning edition but not more powerful than the msi one...:=)
