Radeon HD 7970 OC GigaByte Edition Review
Radeon HD 7970 OC GigaByte Edition is a special Edition of the Radeon HD 7970. See the page of the standard edition for more information.
The only different we found was the slightly raised core-clock which went from 925MHz to 1000MHz.
Benchmarks indicate a 3% performance boost when compared to the standard Radeon HD 7970.
Therefore, all games, including very demanding ones, should be fully playable at max settings and with very attractive resolutions.

Did some overclocking with this baby ;)
I used AMD OverDrive (available in Catalyst Control Center) to overclock and the latest 3DMark (more precisely the Fire Strike Extreme benchmark) to benchmark and test the stability.
Stock clocks (1000/1375 [5500 effective]):
Score: 3258
Overclocked (1075/1605 [6420 effective]):
Score: 3511
Also note that the new memory bandwidth is about 308.2 GB/s :D

Bottleneck wouldnt be that huge, and with overclock it could become even smaller. If the price diff between 7970 and 7950 is small then go for 7970.
