Intel HD Graphics 4000 Mobile Review
Intel HD Graphics 4000 Mobile are the successors of Intel HD Graphics 3000 Mobile.
They come embedded on the new Intel Ivy Bridge CPUS and the new features include DirectX 11 support, Shader Version of 5.0 and openGL Version of up to 4.0.
Benchmarks show that some modern games like Mass Effect 3 and Fifa 12 run smoothly at high settings while modern+demanding games like Anno 2070 and COD: MW3 can still be played at medium settings fluently. However, Very Demanding games like Metro 2033 and Risen 2 require very reduced settings and might not appeal to most casual gamers.
Ultimately, the performance depends on whether or not the system's memory is dual-channel, at which speed it runs and also on the CPU it's embedded since the max core-clock varies from CPU to CPU. Note 1: We will be adding each individual Intel HD 4000 that comes with each CPU in the future. The performance depends a lot on the CPU its embedded as the clock frequencies and other factors variate according to the CPU itself.

Submit A Benchmark

Welcome. From this page you can submit a personal benchmark to GD. Once approved by GD admin everyone can search for your bench results here. The more results the more we all learn.

There are lots of free benchmark tools that test parts of your PC. Select a Type in the form to the right, then select a Tool and then select a Test. You will see a weblink appear beside your selection. Click this link to get the benchmark Tool. Try NovaBench for an all in one benchmark that is only 12Mb to download.

How To

Run your choosen Benchmark Tool on your PC, using the benchmark tool's default setting. Take a screenshot displaying the benchmark score and information displaying your rig and submit that to us.

My Windows 7 Ultimate Laptop tells me that I Have 1425MB of Graphics memory from the intel HD4000 instead of the GTX660M Is that the actual graphics memory of the Intel HD4000 of the Intel Core i7 processor unit? Also My laptop tells me that my Windows experience index is 6.2. Lowest is the Intel HD4000. WEll I'd like to know is the Intel HD4000 having 1.4GB of graphics memory or 512MB of graphics memory?

Your 7640G is more powerful than HD4000 on an i5 dual core mobile... But HD4000 on a quad core i7 should be close to yours... Remember to dual channel your RAM... It will improve integrated graphics performance by about 25-30%...

At 1280x720 resolution you can run Counter Strike Global Offensive, Crysis 2, Modern Warfare 3, Mass Effect 2 and 3, and Dead Space 3 on medium no anti-aliasing... You can run Halo 1 and 2, Mass Effect 1, CoD 4 and 5, Modern Warfare 2 on high... If you have 1 4GB RAM stick, put in another 4 GB stick and dual channel your RAM, this should improve your integrated graphics performance by about 25-30% or so...

This was embedded in my Asus Vivobook S400C, it was a nice surprise to find that I can play most games that appeal to me on medium-high settings! Newer games need low settings but if you're looking a budget touch screen laptop with loads of features I highly recommend it. Does everything I want!

"Starting with the 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors with Intel® HD Graphics 4000/2500, three displays support may be possible depending on your computer's configuration."

I'm alittle confused on something... If the chip uses shared memory, isn't the memory speed the same has the RAM speed of the computer? For example, I have 8GB of 1866 RAM. If the Intel HD 4000 uses that ram, then isn't the graphical memory speed also 1866? Besides, the main clock could be set any where in between 350MHz and 1.250GHz, and auomaticually adjust accordingly... So why does GD limit me to these specs?
You should allow for more customization on the rig page? Perhaps some people have a slightly more powerful graphic chip then you lead them to believe. even if just by a little bi

I agree with you.
The 350MHz we show are for the central unit. Eventually we will add Turbo Clock as well.
As for the Memory Clock speed, it's currently set at 800MHz because that's the max memory speed supported by the i7 processors. Anything beyond that will be treated as DDR3-1600.
Thanks for supporting us!

How does this beat the AMD 7520G. Because the core speed of the 7520G isn't locked at 496MHZ. It can go up to 685MHZ. With a memory of 2036 on a 4GB RAM. I haven't tested 8GB but I would like to know how does this beat the 7520G. Someone please reply back. I am curious to know this.

You can't compare a GPU to another based on Core-Speed, unless they have the same architecture and same SPU count.
Oh but this GPU's core-clock can go up to 1350MHz ;)
Also, increase the amount of RAM will not benefit this or any integrated's GPU performance. What matters is that it's dual channelled.

Thank you for explaining this to me. :) I was wondering why it is a tad better than the 7520G. So basically laptops with intel 4000 or 7660G are the best affordable laptops that can play most demanding games at a low price. Glad companies are finally making laptops with good gpus affordable for us!
