Overview
Intel HD Graphics 4000 Mobile are Integrated Graphics in some of Intel's Mobile Ivy Bridge Processors.
Architecture
The Ivy Bridge GT2 Core includes support for DirectX 11, OpenCL 1.2 and OpenGL 4.0. Additionally, it also offers Hardware Tessellation, Dedicated L3 Cache and better Video Decoding Performance, when compared to its Predecessor.
GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed GT2 which offers 16 Shader Processing Units, 4 TMUs and 4 ROPs. The Central Unit Initially Runs at 650MHz and goes up to 1350MHz, in Turbo Mode.
Memory
The GPU Shares the System's RAM which varies from System to System. Typically, the GPU reserves 1.7GB. Depending on whether or not the system's RAM is Dual-Channeled, it can access either a 64-bit or 128-bit memory interface. The operating memory clock also depends on which speed the System's RAM is running and is limited by the highest operating speed that the Processor supports. In this case, it is 800MHz.
It is then obvious the Memory Bandwidth depends on a lot of factors and thus this Graphics Card performance may vary heavily from system to system.
Performance
The Most Powerful Variant Offers Performance similar to a dedicated GeForce GT 425M.

System Suggestions
We recommend 4GB of RAM for a system with Intel HD Graphics 4000 Mobile.
how is what possible?
The driver support rating and fps system benchmark i presumed.
Why is this rank 1 on the hardware GPU section popularity?
Don't know, i guess people find it popular lol. I mean three Intel integrated GPUs on top, I would of thought plenty folks here have systems with dedicated GPUs. Although it be would interesting to know what that list is all about.
My igpu.xD
Intel HD 4000 manages to lag Half Life 2 on low settings a LOT for me (my laptop has the i7 3630qm and 6GB of ram) So, would the lag be because the intel hd 4000 is not capable of running Hl2, or could it be because it uses custom drivers?
Half Life 2 is an old game that shouldn't give HD 4000 much trouble to run, although there's some versions of this game. Try any of these:
1.Make sure you have the latest graphics driver for the gpu
2.Go into Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel, 3D, set the preference to performance. Then to Power, set the power source to "Plugged In" and set power plans to "Maximum Performance."
I could guess that you have 6GB RAM which is in dual-channel mode, especially since the gpu would perform better on dual-channeled RAM over a single-channel one.
What about the specific versions for i5's which go up to 1150 MHz, not 1350?
That is only available with the Core i5-3427U and i5-3570K processors.
Oh, thanks
yes i could run it smoothly on my intel hd graphics 4000 mobile
Run what?
run mario world XD
Hi guys, im talking about my laptop here, not my gaming rig… But it has an i5 3210m 2.5 ghz cpu using HD4000 graphics with 4 gigs of ram in one slot.. will I get better frames in games if I add another 4 gig ram module?
I'd appreciate the replies
For what use? If you have 64-bit win and you work with code or videos than yes
If you play games, buying another 4GB memory is waste of money on dualcore with igpu
I use it mainly for varsity related work. And the occasional counter strike lan with mates. And yes I have 64 bit. Thanks for reply. Thumbd UP!
why my intel HD 4000m is so suck… ??
cant play dynasty warrior 8 even on low setting ?
and BFBC2 too ?..
Well, it's an integrated GPU. It's not even meant for gaming :/
but my friend can run thath game with medium and low setting… :(.. and his proscesor is 17%less than mine.. and ram just 3gb
Which game? By the way, games tend to run differently on every rig. Just because someone with similar hardware is able to run a game doesn't necessarily guarantee that you'll run it on the same settings as well :/
the is grid 2. dynasty warrior 8 and battlefield bad company 2.. idkm mybe u right..thanks for answer
You should at least be getting good fps in Dynasty Warriors 8, unless you're playing at a huge resolution. Try playing on no more than 1366x768, integrated GPUs tend to have problems with larger resolutions.
Look on intel page for new drivers
This gpu handle games like fifa 14, nfs hot pursuit 2011 like a pro and ship simulator extremes pretty well at medium settings. Of course, most of us know its not really a high level gaming gpu but it play games way better than the gpu of my last system.
this little not-for-gaming
GPU can handle BF Bad Company 2 with no problem… ideal for mid range budget pc`s!
