So long as a game takes advantage of Crossfire, you'll get of course better results with two HD7850. It's usually a better choice to go Single GPU rather than crossfire two lesser GPUs, it's less of a hussle with driver issues and power requirements :D

A slight bottleneck in CPU bound games, despite of your CPU being i5 it is still a dual core.

No it wont, PSU is too weak and DDR2 memory and cpu are a big bottleneck, if he wants this card to work correctly he will have to change everything

no tell your friend he would just waste his money. the card will have huge issues on that system and he wont be able to play anything. even if the cpu wasnt way too weak to handle it the psu would make it lock up and any game he would play would freeze every 30 seconds making it unplayable. i bought a gtx 650 when i still had a c2d 6600 and even that card (it is considerably weaker and has much less power usage) wasnt able to handle even the oldest games. he should put a little money on the side and buy a new pc instead

Is the 7850 sapphire 1gb edition ok for 1080p resolution or should I get this OC edition with 2gb for high detail gaming at 1080p resolution?
DaveOconnor08

If this one isn't much more expensive than the other one then I will rather go for this one, 1080 might sometimes use more than 1 gb in games :)

costs like €35 more then the 1GB edition. With Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition the 2GB OC will pair well to play AC3, Crysis 3, Far Cry 3 and BF3 at high on 1080p resolution right?

Im pretty sure you can buy 7870 for 35 euros more? That much money for extra gig of vram doesn't seem worth it
DaveOconnor08
21:29 Jan-04-2013

Yeah it should play it well on that resolution but most of them should run maxed out with 30-40+ fps but, how much does the HD 7870 cost as PapiFiveNine is saying above, maybe 1 gb extra isn't really needed...

Ouch :/ In any case, an extra gig of vram allows you to run higher detail and AA on full hd which is not saying the 1gb can't already do that (depends on the game) You need to figure out if you find it worth the investment

For around £150, this card seems a great upgrade from my current HD 6770, which GD rates as 125% WORSE than the 7850 0.0 My rig can handle almost anything I throw at it maxed out, occasionally pulling down the AA and draw distances, so I'd like to see what I could do with this, especially Crossfired. Could any owners give me benchmarks? Looks like a great card, although the core clock is a little lower than I expected for £150.
