Pentium G2020 2.9GHz Game Requirement Analysis

Pentium G2020 2.9GHz is a budget processor based on the 22nm, Ivy Bridge architecture.

It offers 2 Physical Cores (2 Logical), clocked at 2.9GHz and 3MB of L3 Cache.
Among its many features, Virtualization is activated.

The processor integrates very weak Graphics called Intel HD Graphics Desktop (Ivy Bridge), with 6 Execution Units, initially clocked at 650MHz and that go up to 1050MHz, in Turbo Mode which share the L2 Cache and system RAM with the processor.
Both the processor and integrated graphics have a rated board TDP of 55W.

It offers average performance. This means it will become a bottleneck in some demanding applications.

Both have dual core and clock speed difference is low. Cache size is the same too. Pentium got high rank because its on newer 22nm Ivy Bridge compared to older 32nm Sandy Bridge

Core 2 Duo is a powerful processor, it and Pentium are in the same tier for gaming, it may be better or a little worse, but not that much.

I know this. It been fixed when I removed the 15% oc, the processor was rated as 10, but it should be 7 with oc, i don't know why it was buggy.

Hi, I would think that this CPU would bottleneck a 7870, you'll probably want to couple at least a sandy bridge i5 or better, or an FX6300 on the AMD side, with this kind of a GPU.

Hope this helps you out buddy.

Hey guys, I have just upgraded from a Q8200 to this processor, now I know there is going to be a bottleneck with the 7850, recommend getting a i5 or i7 for gaming? Basically don't want to spend much on cpu upgrade, RAM to 8gb tomorrow.

The G2020 will be able to handle nicelly any of those 2 Gpus so you don't have to worry about the bottleneck.

They're nearly identical, except this one is 0.1 GHz slower, 22nm, uses less power and is an Ivy Bridge. The G860 is 32nm, Sandy Bridge, has a TDP of 65w and has a core clock of 3.0 GHz. Personally, I would get the G2020 as it uses less power

I think you should upgrade your PSU to at least 450w (more future proof that way) and also get a GT630 or HD7750 with this CPU. Ideally, you should upgrade your mobo as well and one with the LGA 775 socket and get a Core 2 Quad processor, but this one is best if you're on a tight budget

300W, I am afraid that isn't going to be enough. G2020 is newer architecture and is better a bit. You should basically change your whole PC.

I grabbed a cx430 because it was reliable and had a strong 12v rail. You want to be able to make upgrades to a computer while keeping the case and supply.
