FX-9590 Game Requirement Analysis

FX-9590 is a high-end CPU based on the 32nm Piledriver architecture.

It offers 8 Physical Cores (8 Logical), initially clocked at 4.7GHz, which may go up to 5.0GHz and 8MB of L3 Cache.
Among its many features, Turbo Core and Virtualization are activated and the clock multiplier is unlocked, meaning it can be overclocked easily.

The processor DOES NOT have any integrated graphics, and has a rated board TDP of 220W.

Compared to its predecessor FX-8350 there's an overall 12% performance boost. Its performance is exceptionally good and enough for even the most demanding applications.

I have an FX-4300, and I want to upgrade my CPU that would fit my motherboard so I wouldn't have to need to replace that if I don't need to. Though if I have to, it'd probably worth to get a better motherboard that would accept my Graphics Card as well.

SHould I get the FX-9590, wait for FX-10K, or get an AMD Zen CPU instead and brand new board? I currently have an MSI 760Gm-P34 (MS-7641)

Buddy fx 9590 has heat issues.amd recommend water cooling which is expensive atleast for me.

6600k and 9590 are same in performance but 6600k needs less power and has less heat.

You can overclock 6600k to 4.5ghz easily without changing voltage and people did this

You need lot of power for fx 9590

So 6600k is more future proof

6600k is not same in performance with 9590. 6600k has more ipc and destroys the vishera in any game.

guess you are right, the only thing that made me consider this chip is it's fair price but i guess i 6600K is worth 50 extra euros

  1. About time for a cpu upgrade, would this do it? 2., How much cooling would be necessary for this?

A better gpu would be better for you than a cpu upgrade. There is no point in upgrading from a fx-8350 to a fx9590 You could overclock your fx-8350 to gain more performance from it. If you have better cooling that is. Or you could just wait for zen.But you would have to buy a new mb probobly ram too.

Nah, I have the 8350 as well. Save your money and wait for Zen (that's what I'm doing). Also this CPU requires water cooling.

''Yes who need a space heater??'' You know that amd gives max temp 68oC? I build a system of my friend and it hits 54oC in full load with AIDA64 with phanteks aircooling…!!Go check ur i7 6700k which hits 72oC with CoolerMaster Nepton 240m

If I ever got hands on this (not really), does that mean I can throw away my space heater? I'll make sure to get 2 GTX 480s too!

You've got me confused :P
I don't have a 6700k, I have a 3770k :P And its temps are just fine, even with a crappy Alpine 11 Pro

I was getting at the 220W TDP of this thing, if you was to air cool it, it'd make a great heater, along with 2 GTX 480s which were known to be very hot running

Just run P95 and Furmark at the same time and be golden :P

Actually TDP is about power consumption not about temps…with phanteks (not crappy actually) aircooler my friend got 53-54 oC in prime95…also before 4 years some i7 3770k have problems with temps so u got to open cover and change paste!!

Yeah… call me crazy , but I LOVE this CPU. I knew going into building a system around this CPU will require a lot of cooling. Hence I went Liquid cooling for both my GPU and CPU.
