Your main focus should be your GPU. If you want a i7 4th gen cpu, don't go below a 970 or a R9 390.

GD ranking messed up? Say this CPU are 57% better then mine, soo wrong. Mine is 0.8Ghz faster in turbo speed at stock, lol. 5960X can't be better, it is only more expensive.

The rankings aren't messed up. i7-5960X is an extreme processor based on the latest Haswell-E architecture. It is a lot more power efficient because of being built on 22nm lithography rather than the 32nm of the FX 8370 one. Further it runs a lot cooler under most loads as it's highest temperature is just 67 Degrees
If we talk a bit about logical cores then you have to realize that this i7 has 8 more threads than the FX one and could more effectively distribute the load among it's processors therefore delivering a more efficient multi-tasking performance.
Clock speed isn't everything. It's like saying that a 4.0 Core 2 Quad Processor could beat yours or this one but that's frankly misjudging a lot of factors. FX 8370 is indeed a great processor indeed considering from a budget point of view. For such a low price it provides a great deal of performance, that's kudos to AMD but it cannot beat this processor at all.
As always if you have any questions or queries regarding the rating system on GD please head over to Pip's blog here and report directly to him and so forth.
Hope this clears it ;)

You can de-activate HT and it would pretty much kill the 9590 or whatever FX CPU.

And when this overclock easily to 4500++ Guess the performance :-D

You`ll kill it at 1.4V+ bro.

I run mine at 4.5Ghz 1.205V-ish V now, Cache 4.0Ghz 1.050V, Vccin at 1.900V.

Stay below 80¤C and below 1.35V for 24/7 usage. I personally stay below 1.3V on Core, 1.2V on cache, 1.950V on VCCIN and below 70¤C even at stresstest. This should be bulletproof against degrading.

On 1.43V you`ll degrade it within a year.

You could buy the intel tuning plan (30$ or so) and send in the Cpu for a new one that might overclock better.

:)

I can also run 4.7Ghz at 1.3V-ish, Maybe you didn`t win the silicon lottery ^^

Will not kill on 1.4+ :) I am testing him before 1 month on 1.475v (with mine custom water cooling) temp was 55c in Full Load! :) also with the best Arctic Silver thermal :) and Pump on 9volt :) Cpu is now on 1.32v and temp is 36c in Load

Would love to see a 2 hour run of Realbench or Aida64 with Cpu-Z showing me 1.32V and 32¤Ce under 100% load.

But i can assure you that 1.4V++ will degrade it within a year, if you don`t believe me just ask the guys over at OCN.
Also, validate your rig, just a think that might be smart to do :)

Man, I`m not here to argue or compare results, if i were i would have given you something like a 4.9Ghz result on a so called suicide run at 1.4V.

Im here because i cant really believe that you are getting 30-ish¤C under 100% at 1.32V unless you had a chiller or phase.

So i would like a screenshot of your screen after running Aida64 for a hour at 1.32V with a load temp of 32¤C. :)

Cache/uncore: 4.0Ghz 1.050V
VCCIN: 1.920V LLC 8.

Temps under load with now a bit chilly ambient is around 50-65¤C, Don`t exceed 65¤C under gaming/load 100%.

I guess with higher ambient it will be around 70¤C.

This is with my fans on a silent mode put in the bios, Actual rpm i don`t remember. :)

Thanks for your feedback. Beautiful CPU and voltages. I could benefit from one of those. I just upgraded from x79 to x99. Now im using a 5820K in the meanwhile I get enough money for this.
I noticed just a small bump from 3930K to 5820K (4% aprox.)

Well it was degraded, couldent boot at stock. So i rma`ed it and bought this 5960X.

After a few weeks got my 100% overclock ready. 1.210V 4.5Gz, 4.0Ghz 1.100V cache, VCCIN at 1.850. Temps under load 63¤C max.

But still that is impressive result. Some have to push their 5960x to 1.5v vcore to be able to achieve 4.5-4.6ghz…And at 1.5v it will eat more than at 1.330v…

Yeah, Though that was for my old 5820K. I can do 4.7Ghz 1.3V. But getting close to 80¤C, too much for me personally. I`m now a nazi on Temps, volts and such, worried about degrading.

Running: 1.205V 4.5Ghz, 4.0Ghz 1.050V, VCCIN at 1.900V. temps around 55-60¤C under gaming, and 6-70¤C under Stresstesting. :-D
