Getting this made a big difference with live streaming vs my 4690k the performance was a lot better in more demanding games and now I can stream on slower settings on obs for a better quality.

Unfortunately the added cost of x99 kinda tarnishes that ratio.

I hear you keep saying that. No it`s not really. I might go for a third 980 soon, if i had your Z97 system i would have to sell that and buy myself x99 due lanes ;)

Z170/I76700K cost more than X99/5820K, So why pay more for less?

(Though, your system was not that cheaper, for me it was about 200USD, which is nothing when you think over the added life)

that is true, but don't forget all the additional features X99 chipset offers (especially compared to previous X79)
and also 2011-V3 socket is superior, having screws directly - no need for stupid backplates when mounting aftermarket cpu coolers, it's really one class higher above 1150 socket and its successors

DX12 will take better use of multi-treads, and since future games will support DX12 the 5820k will be supperior compared to 4790k and 6700k's 8 threads in those games. So if you have the money I would go for the 5820k, no doubt ;)

True, the most expensive here are the 6700k, and 4790k might end up slightly cheaper than 5820k because of DDR4 RAM. But the "cheapest" if you compare price-performance cost the 5820k would definitly be the most benefitical buy ;) But as Gustav say they are all amazing gaming CPUs, and far better than the FX-8350 :)

seriously, this one's a beast,
quality of the socket is really pro-grade, cpu itself is huge, heat dissipation is superior compared to consumer Core i5 and i7, got it running stable at 4.3-4.4GHz on air cooler at 1.275V is just great!

From what I've seen the Asus boards will get you lower voltage overclocks. I got the msi X99S (as it was less expensive) and am happy with it. However I was having a lot of weird USB issues until I updated the USB 3.0 drivers.

I checked prices today again, and I'm leaning back towards Z97, price difference between that MSI X99 5820K 16GB DDR4 and ASUS Z97 PRO 4790K 16GB DDR3 is around 165$ "for nothing" lol

For nothing? that wrong mate. The price i had to pay in between to get my setup vs the old one wa(mobo, cpu and ram) about 600Eur, and it was worth it, i gained some serious fps in bf4 and other cpu heavy games when using 980 sli. though i had not only got DDR4 (not a biggie really( but i went from 2x4Gb in dual channel, 1600 cl9, to 4x4Gb quad-channel, 2750Mhz cl 14. So i got more ram, and faster ram. also my cpu went from 4.5Ghz (4770K) to 4.75Ghz (5820K)

If i had to pick again, i would. :D Eps. since i changed my x99-s for a x99-e ws for free! :D

Man iknow, but i would have done that. Nothing will be better on the X99 for 2-3 years, and you get 2 cores/4 threads extra, and when Haswell-E oc`s better than ordinary Haswell. Due haswell got the normal paste between the IHS and corem while the X99 cpus got direct contact if i can say it like that.

I dont remember the english word for it, the Norwegian though is `loddet` ^^ :D

I wasn't planning on getting this CPU but thanks to a small sale it was only like $30 more than the 4 core i7s. I don't understand why the 5930K is so expensive as it is just this process with a higher clock speed.

The 5930k has more PCIe lanes than the 5820k. Useful if you plan to have more than one graphics cards or other addons that require PCIe lanes.

9% better with my overclock.
If you're only gaming, this CPU is not worth it and offers no extra performance over the 4790k and 4690k. Even in multithreaded and multitasking the difference is minor. Waste of money for gamers.

Lets compare results on Cinebench, firestrike etc^^

honestly, if so wrong of you saying that is wont offer any performance compared to the 4790K or 4690K, because, well it does, with my sli setup, a I5 4690K wouldent handle it as nice as my heavily overclocked 5820K does.

I either fold (only on my Gpu`s) or i play games, and this was a worthy upgrade from my 4770K 4.5Ghz Cpu i had.

I'm talking real world performance and not nebulous benchmarks like Cinebench. In gaming a 4670k or 4690k would present absolutely no bottleneck to 2 SLI 980s. Unless you are rendering and editing all day, everyday (and you're clearly not otherwise you would have more RAM) then 4770k to 5820k was a very unwise and costly "upgrade".

Price difference between 5820k and 4770k is very low here so i would take 5820k anyday. Personally it would mean chancing mobo which i should do anyway cause i cant sli with this shet. But i still think im going for new Nvidia 980 ti ? or AMD 300 when they release rather than pair of 980.
