Yes it really is a good CPU have mine at 4.2 ghz and 1.35 volts. Runs from 116 degrees fahrenheit idle and 138 degrees fahrenheit under load.

Cooled on air by a CoolerMaster GeminII S524 V 2.0 with a Noctua NFA-14 iPPC 3000RPM 140mm industrial fan. Running a Sapphire RX 460 Nitro 4G D5 with unlocked BIOS so 1024 Shaders and overclocked about 15% (1435 mhz) and 1825 on the Memory clock. With 16 GB of Kingston Hyperx Fury Ram at 1866 Mhz Powered by a thermaltake Grand RGB 750 Watt Power Supply and I don't get any major lags on anything that I do.

Have this CPU with my R7 250 1GB and it runs most games at a smooth 60fps! CS:GO on low could reach 250 on some maps. Recommend this to anyone :)

Worth upgrading to this processor with my rig? Like, keeping the GPU and 500W power source?

Make sure you have a new mobo, and why AMD, stay with Intel at least.

I know about the mobo and so, it's just that the core 2 quad is old, have no support to some instructions and so, and buying a intel core i5 or i3 in here goes around 1,200. Amd stays in 900.

Just atleast wait for AMD zen to release instead of getting reliability. Also, what country do you live in since that's really expensive in U.S dollars in both sides. More like 100-300

Brazil dude. Of course I'm counting the mobo and memories together. I'm just thinking about it, and the zen processors have no release date.

The CPU I'd recommend to anyone who wants to stick with the most popular and undemanding games (LoL, dota, csgo) but also wants to do something CPU-intensive (like streaming).
Low price (compared to i5/7s) and enough juice to handle everything you throw at it (that isn't a new AAA game on Ultra at 4k, of course)
