FX-8370 Game Requirement Analysis

FX-8370 is a high-end CPU based on the 32nm Piledriver architecture.

It offers 8 Physical Cores (8 Logical), initially clocked at 4.1GHz, which may go up to 4.3GHz and 8MB of L3 Cache.
Among its many features, Turbo Core and Virtualization are activated and the clock multiplier is unlocked, meaning it can be overclocked easily.

The processor DOES NOT integrated any graphics. and has a rated board TDP of 125W.

Benchmarks indicate its performance is only around 4% better than previous AMD FX-8350 and so powerful Core i5 Processors are still faster.

if you are only gaming or gaming and recording videos, then no. If you have to use the CPU for work, then sure.

If you are comfortable with giving some extra money then go for the 9590. That's what i would have done.

Nonono don't get 9590 you will fry your motherboard.8370 you could put on that board, although even 8370 isn't safe, the best option for you with that motherboard would be FX 6300 or maybe FX 8370E.

Would this be good upgrade for my rig? Seriously considering to buy this one, due to the price/performance. OC ready of course. Or should i change mobo and goto i7 instead?

i7 4770k is 41% better than Fx-6200 according to this

Well it looks like the i7-3770k is the best match for your gpu and its around 9% better than the fx-8370.If buying the intel is not so big of a deal for you(money wise) then go for it. Both of the cpus are prob strong enough to last 2 years

If I were you, I'd stick to the fx-6200 for 1-2 more years, and then upgrade either to:
1) Intel's 2015 CPUs which will future high performance at very low power consumption
or
2) AMD's 2016 "Zen" CPUs which will be way more powerful than the current generation of their CPUs, and it will really feel like an upgrade.
It's a pitty to throw a ton of money now for an i7+mobo for little difference

and only in few games.
But if you really want to upgrade now, go for either the FX-8350/8370 (which is cheaper, since 0,1 GHz won't make a difference), and if you overclock it be careful.

4460 runs cooler, no doubt about it.
I would say they are equivalent. They will perform better or worse according to the game itself and the advantages it takes from their technologies.

it has more cores, that's why it's so much better. Compare your cpu to the fx 6350 and then you'll see how much better it is.
Also I belive that the next fx cpus will be on a new platform and socket.

the i7 4770k can be up to 30% faster than the i5 4670k, when hyperthreading is utilized to it's best, but of course in other cases and especially in games it isn't much better than the i5 4670k, if even at all.

aha, so if it is game based then why is the fx 6300 weaker than the fx 8320 when they get almost the same fps in all games, but crysis 3?
BTW I'm not trying to be offensive. I realise that I might sound offensive, but I have no such meanings, I'm speaking/chatting with good intentions and I respect you, and I respect you A LOT and I know you know more than me, but I just want to get things clear. :)

That's true, but shouldn't this show the overall maximum performance of the cpus? Because it's confusing if this the socre for gaming, editing and everything combined into one. A good thing would be to make multiple scores, for games and apps/ multimedia/software for work. I know it's not easy, because IMO making sites is really annoying and editting and changing them is even more annoying, but it will give better idea of the cpu capabilities.

hummm…
Well that is just practically impossible, unless we get a copy of each processor and benchmark it individually and equally.
I am working hard to make the difference between high-end and entry processors smaller, as well as between older and newer processors. This affects the outcome of the Can I Run Tool.
I am happy with the rank of the FX-8350. I agreed when Mark said that the FX-81xx were overrated and were too high when compared to FX-6xxx Series.
However, I don't agree with raising the rank of this processor. It was even lower before I edited and I cannot go any further on it.

well my point is that it is stronger than the i5 4670k and i5 4690k when both cpus are utilized to their fullest potential and I'm 200% sure that is true.
and yes the fx 81xx were overrated for sure, they were off by 5-10%

When it comes to gaming, FX-8350 is not stronger than the most powerful i5 Processors. Notice that only 3 or 4 are ranked higher.
In fact, the upcoming FX-8370 will be ranked as high as 4670K or 4690K.
