I use an Intel Core i5 750 myself ,together with 16 gb 2133MHz ddr3 ,and an gtx 1050 ti OC.
I have an very good experience with those parts ,it runs a slightly little faster than the core i3 7100 so far i compared.

It will be a good match because the GTX 960 reccommended CPUs include i3 4370. Your i5 750 is only 6% worse than it so that means it is a good CPU for it.
Tip : Buy the EVGA GeForce GTX 960 04G-P4-3969-KR or buy GTX 950.

I'm sorry to say, but this i5-750 is better than your A10-5800K. You can't just pay attention to clock speeds. Each individual core of the i5-750 is significantly more powerful than each core in the A10-5800K, so even with the lower clock speed the i5-750 is more powerful.

Am wondering why this the FX-6100 is rated so high. Apparently (at least on the Max Payne 3 spec) My overclocked (by 35%) i5 750 is 24% slower.
According to Anandtech a stock i5-750 trades blows with a 6300 and is faster in most games

Newer arcitecture,smaller technology process,higher clocks,more cores,more cache…it blows this one away

Have a look at these benchmarks:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/699?vs=109
especially the 3 games at the bottom, then consider that I'll get about 30% more raw processing power than the results show.

Age has nothing to do with it. Despite all the things you listed, Core for core the i5 is still faster in terms of instructions per cycle. The 6300 will only shine in games that fully use 6 cores and even then performance will be about even

agree age has lot to do with it as many old games were not able to utilize more than 2-3 cores but newer games can do so 6300 performs much better in new games which r optimized for it

Which on it's own when fully utilised could potentially beat it but when the i5 is overclocked by 35%, it shouldn't register as 24% slower.

I've only seen one level in one game (Crysis 3) actually utilise 100% of all 4 cores.

The 6300 and 750 are very close really, But the FX-6300 is the better CPU. But yes a overclocked i5 750 would beat the FX-6300. It is still a good gaming CPU even today. I have my i5 750 overclocked a little.

750 is a great CPU indeed, despite it's quite old,but the fact is that 6300 which is 3 years newer is better CPU in most today's games.
It's like comparing FX 8120 to i7 4770K.4770K is much newer and better

That's another whole kettle of fish, the 8120's cores have even less ipc then the Phenom II (which in turn already had less than Lynnfield) so will perform worse when there is anything from 1 to 4 dominant threads in a game.

That's much better, now that Pip has updated most of the CPU's. Apparently the Lynnfield i5's were massively underrated in the scoring system. Now my overclock gives it 17% over the stock FX 6300 which is more realistic.
