APU FX-8800P Quad-Core Game Requirement Analysis

APU FX-8800P Quad-Core is a High-End Mobile CPU based on the 28nm, Excavator Architecture.

It offers 4 Physical Cores (4 Logical), initially clocked at 2.1GHz, which may go up to 3.4GHz and 4MB of L2 Cache.
Among its many features, Turbo Core and Virtualization are activated.

The processor integrates powerful Graphics called Radeon R7 8800P, with 512 Shader Processing Units, clocked at 800MHz, which share the L2 Cache and system RAM with the processor.
Both the processor and integrated graphics have a rated board TDP of 15W.

Benchmarks indicate its performance is just about as good as Intel's 5th Gen Core i3 Ultra-Low Voltage Processors.

What the is wrong with this CPU?

It throttles down at 60 degrese C from 3.4 to 1.4 and is killing my gameplay.

How to stop CPU throttling?

CPU and GPU never passed 65 d.c.

hello fellow 15ACZ user! Mine actually will bounce off of 92C, throttle hard, then bounce between 70 and 90C, I actually have disabled turbo and this has yielded smoother performance in AoTS. Now without turbo temps sit at 62C peak in game however in say NMS (or other very CPU heavy games), frame rates will drop around 25%

I am surprised my CPU is stronger than this (overclocking aside) in the comparison, the smaller L2 cache actually is designed to function far faster than previous Bulldozer descended CPU's on top of the 15% higher IPC Excavator has over Steamroller

well the GD comparison tool is as always in-accurate, but gives a good representation of the CPU's performance, keep in mind this CPUs' performance was rated at the 2.1GHz clock speeds as boost clock speeds are not a constant, so 2.1Ghz vs 3.1Ghz + 25% overclock(which is a huge overclock for a non-K CPU btw, good job) is bound to beat it.

fair point

thank you by the way, I can run up to a 30% overclock full stable boot too (4050 mhz) too but the ragged edge doesn't feel right with regular use

I have to wonder what the Athlon X4 845's can do with overclocking given the same thermal overhead as my CPU, however Excavator is far more efficient

that is steamroller all athlon 800 series are steamroller, all athlon 700 series are piledriver and all 600 series are phenom II(K10).

I'm not trying to argue, but the Athlon X4 845 USES Excavator modules
