Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz Game Requirement Analysis

Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz is a performance CPU based on the 32nm, Sandy Bridge architecture.

It offers 4 Physical Cores (4 Logical), initially clocked at 3.3GHz, which may go up to 3.7GHz and 6MB of L3 Cache.
Among its many features, Turbo Boost and Virtualization are activated and the processor has multiplier unlocked.

The processor integrates relatively weak Graphics called Intel HD Graphics 3000, with 12 Execution Units, initially clocked at 850MHz and that go up to 1100MHz, in Turbo Mode which share the L2 Cache and system RAM with the processor.
Both the processor and integrated graphics have a rated board TDP of 95W.

Its performance is very good and sufficient for extreme gaming.

Nah you're good, no bottleneck. If you want to be sure overclock this thing its famous for being a great overclocker, just make sure you've got proper cooling.

it will only make a difference in games that actually use a lot of cpu usage and pushes it to the limits also the video card has to be strong enough same as game is demanding enough to cause a bottleneck on cpu a bit then you would notice a difference for example if you had a 750ti and a i7 or a 750ti and a i3 you probably would never notice the difference cause the cpu definitely wont get pushed hard with your 970 you should notice on some really demanding games

Would it be worth it to switch to this CPU and then overclock it? I know my i5 is enough for gaming but I just want a faster CPU and I wanna get into overclocking.

Leave your rig as it is man. If I were you, I would only waste money on upgrading anything right now.
But if you really want to get into OC-ing, then go for a stronger CPU than this one.
