Athlon II X4 640 Review

The Athlon II series is based on the AMD K10 architecture and derived from the Phenom II series. However, unlike its Phenom siblings, it does not contain any L3 Cache. There are two Athlon II dies: the dual-core Regor die with 1 MB L2 Cache per core and the four-core Propus with 512 KB per core. Regor is a native dual-core design with lower TDP and additional L2 to offset the removal of L3 cache. The three core Rana is derived from the Propus quad-core design, with one core disabled.

Both are good, I prefer more cores so this and if you want overclocking go for 750k

It does perform 30% better than this one but:
1. It costs one and a half times more
2. Has a 25% higher TDP
3. Heats up enough to fry an egg
This one is a good budget processor and from a price to performance ratio perspective, is the better choice... It also runs cool when you push it to the limit... The Phenom II X4's heat up at 70%...

not the best for its price but worth what u pay :P it has a decent overclocking room and dont overlook it becouse the L3 cache is missing. Pretty happy with mine at 3.55Ghz :p
