Core i3-2120 3.3GHz Review
The Core i3 was intended to be the new low end of the performance processor line from Intel, following the retirement of the Core 2 brand.
The first Core i3 processors were launched on January 7, 2010.
The first Nehalem based Core i3 was Clarkdale-based, with an integrated GPU and two cores. The same processor is also available as Core i5 and Pentium, with slightly different configurations.
The Core i3-3xxM processors are based on Arrandale, the mobile version of the Clarkdale desktop processor. They are similar to the Core i5-4xx series but running at lower clock speeds and without Turbo Boost.

Hi, check this official link: http://ark.intel.com/products/53426
Here you'll see it can only support ram up to 1333mhz! The 1333mhz ram normally use 1.5V...

it's not like it doesn't support ram voltage more than 1.5v.. The thing is, you shouldn't pair this cpu with ram which is higher than 1.5v
you can do that but you have a chance to fry something over time..
you can downclock your ram at any time tho. Lower the voltage to 1.5v and see if its stable. If its not, then you need to downclock it a bit to improve stability.

Yes you can, just make sure your Motherboard supports 1600mhz ram! There is some 1600mhz ram out there which only use 1.5V! But if your 1600mhz ram use more than 1.5V... then thinks can get dangerous! Just downclock it then :)

Hi and umm im planning on upgrading my computer to the max
and i want to keep this as my current processor and also i have 64bit windows (ignore my current rig specs on that one)
so
what do you think are the best upgrades, and i mean BEST upgrades.
so can this processor actually survive the era of PS4 and Xbox One?
without changing the cpu nor bottlenecking it
and whats the price of all that,
thanks.

Hi, with a 64-bit OS you can upgrade your ram up to 32Gb of ram! I think the I3 2120 CPU will last another 2years, because I can play Battlefield 3 on Ultra without lag (your GPU is the main reson for lag most of the time, depend what you have! But if this cpu can handle BF3 on Ultra... it can definitely handle games further in the future! PS: The new ddr4 is coming out this December i think! I would rather wait for ddr4...

you should listen to FizZeR . .I agree with you bro. .coz we almost have an identical spex. . I also played bf3 with that settings. . .this cpu is great and all you need is a card that I can give you a lot of juice. .

most likely this proccesor wont be able to 'survive' the era between PS4, xbox one and the consoles after them.
The best card you could get without having bottleneck would be a 7850/650ti boost..

wow so
"2 years"??
but i have seen Pentium D's or even the old Pentium 4 Hyperthreading
playing Skyrim on low-med settings
i will just need to use the full potential on this cpu then.
Core i3 2120
HD 7850
8 gig ram? or ill make it 16gig
well i think it can survive the ps4 era, atleast on low-med settings
if i ever upgrade my cpu though, what the best LGA 1155 cpu then?

for the price I would either pick a 3470 or 3570k(if your mobo is capable to OC it)
Although it very likely that all of 1155 cpu's would be pretty much outdated by the time you would upgrade..
well, don't worry too much. :)

Yes, only two years, because with the new drr4 coming out, and with the Xbox 720/PS4 also coming the gaming aria will get advanced very quickly! Ps: If you get ddr4 it means you'll have to get a NEW Motherboard which support ddr4, new ddr4 ram and you'll have to get a new CPU wich will fit in the new sockets! So save up your money so long. I've heard a rumor that water cooling will be allot cheaper with the new sockets! :D

Hi, no you cant put in a 1600mhz ram, because your motherboard only supports up to 1333mhz ram! Also keep in mind that your CPU can only handel ram with 1.5V or lower. I would say you should get 1x8gb ram, because your motherboard only have 2ram slots!

Since my 2120 can handle my 7850 (which is awesome. btw), and 7850 is 22% better than 650TI and 3% worse than the boost, I'd say yes, it can handle both :)

Ok thanks...... How about GTX 650 Ti Boost or GTX 660? Are both suitable too for this CPU? After I upgrade my ram to 4 or 8 gb of course....... :-)

i prefer 7850 2gb as there will be a small bottleneck with 660 and 7850 is a little better than 650 boost ........7850 will be enough
