Core i5-3450 Quad 3.1GHz Review
A very decent CPU that matches today's quad core needs in games. But would you buy this one or the i5-3470? The only differences are the stock clock frequency (-0.1 GHz) and the turbo frequency for a single core setup (-0.1 GHz). So the 3450 is just a little slower! I don't want to pay more than $5 extra for the higher clock frequency you'll get with the 3470!

In games FX-8320/8350 in rendering applications maybe FX-8150 or FX-6300.

it doesn't really worth for you. i would wait one year at least, or if you're not satisfied with the AMD's performance wait for the Haswell, the next generation Intel series:)

I recently upgrade my processor from i3 2120 to this, I also change my motherboard from Asrock Z68M/USB3 to MSI B75MA-P45, but I haven't notice any performance difference from my previous setup. There are times that i feel its a bit laggy, but in my previous setup everything is running smoothly. Any feedback from you guys will be appreciated. By the way I also upgraded my video card from 7750 to 7770 and I am using catalyst 12.11 beta version. When I'm gaming its a bit laggy, where do you think is the problem my processor or video card?

OK, can you explain why? The 8120 has better specs
Mazasrb
21:22 Oct-21-2012

Yeah, FX-8120 has higher frequencies but different architectures can't be compared by frequencies.Benchmarks are showing that i5-2400 is better than FX-8150.

I would say 8120, it has 8 cores. That would help a lot with rendering. Also most of amd's fx processors are excellent for gaming.

I'd say 8120 if you want to do rendering but overral performance I'd go with an i5 3450
