Asus P5Q Deluxe Review
Built around Intel's P45 and ICH10R chipsets, the Asus P5Q Deluxe motherboard was designed to be the apex of the DDR2 motherboards based on the P45 chipset. Loaded with many features (and more or less useful marketing gimmicks, like the onboard Express Gate SSD) and supporting Quad-CrossfireX with it's 3 PCIe 2.0 x16 slots, it presented itself as a viable solution to a price-conscious higher-end gaming market that would not spend on a X48 platform. Overclocking wise, the board was very capable and managed to break the 500 MHz FSB barrier quite often when paired with newer (at the time) 45 nm Core 2 chips. Even though much cheaper, it also held itself when benchmarked against the X48 platform, even surpassing it in approximately 30% of the tests.
