For a mere £7.99/$9.99, PC, PS4 and PS3 users will be able to download the small-scale swashbuckling Haitian adventure. Freedom Cry continues the exploits of Edward Kenway’s first-mate Adewale, after he leaves Kenways crew to join the assassins…
Freedom Cry takes place fifteen years after the events of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Adewale finds himself shipwrecked ashore the island of Saint Domingue. He must set about freeing the region’s slaves to muster up a crew and ship to leave the cursed isle. Once aboard it’s sea shanties, grog, and keelhauling aplenty.
Classic Assassin’s Creed fare, Freedom Cry earned plaudits for being one of the strongest narratives contained in an Assassin’s Creed game. It also contains a kickass blunderbuss and a machete to boot, which makes it more than worth your while.
This isn’t the first time that Ubisoft has released standalone DLC, as seen with the exemplary Far Cry: Blood Dragon, but it does mark the first time that DLC has been converted to standalone, as far as we are aware. For Playstation owners who’ve finished off their copies of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag this marks a great opportunity to trade it in and effectively get the DLC for free.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag standalone edition will be available on the 19th February for PS3 and PS4, before arriving for PC on the 25th February. It will be priced at £7.99/9.99.
If all DLC was available as a standalone purchase would you be more inclined to buy it?
Anybody on GD not bother with picking up AC4: Black Flag but interested in downloading this shorter DLC?
