When I think back to the hours of my younger days spent playing Sim City 2000, it’s not often I recall the hours of drudgery managing waste management. Nope, it was all about the disaster. Building a huge city and matching it fall to its knees after nuclear armageddon or an invading alien monster. Cities: Skylines - Natural Disasters sounds right up my street then. It’s available now and joined by a swanky launch trailer showcasing just how destructive elements like tornadoes, forest fires and asteroids can destroy your lovingly crafted city in the blink of an eye.

I mean, just look at it. Glorious, rampant destruction. With Cities: Skyline’s Natural Disasters these can occur, well, naturally, although you can be warned if you set up the appropriate disaster alerts. If you’re feeling a mite more megalomaniacal however, you can actually incite these disasters of own volition. One moment your city could be a buzzing hubbub of activity, the next a smoldering wreck of concrete and ash.

Along with bolting onto your standard game types, Natural Disasters also offers up five new challenge scenarios for hardened city builders. These will task players with standing up to the toughest natural disasters.

With any luck you’ll be able look out for a Cities: Skylines - Natural Disasters review soon.
