In one of the least surprising bits of news ever, Ubisoft has confirmed For Honor will be getting a Season Pass packed with additional content post-launch. The best bit though is it looks as if Ubisoft is going to be adopting the same approach as it did with Rainbow Six Siege, meaning all maps and modes will be free, while additional characters can be earned with an in-game currency.

A total of six new warriors are being added to For Honor, with the season pass granting players exclusive access to them one week early. You’ll also get a Sunbeam Emote, 3 Scavenger Crates, an Exclusive Emblem and 30-Day Champion Status. I’m not sure what half of that even is, although I do spy some loot boxes. They’ve been quite the money spinner for the likes of Overwatch so it’s unsurprising to see Ubisoft follow suit with For Honor.

It’s always a bit ugly to see season passes in online games, but at the very least Ubisoft hasn’t opted to go down the paid advantage route. It’s all cosmetic extras aside from the warriors, but these can still be unlocked with some dedicated play. In Rainbow Six Siege it usually takes about 20 hours play to unlock a DLC character, depending on how often you win.

In typical Ubisoft fashion there will also be multiple different versions of For Honor to choose from when it launches next month. The Deluxe version comes with a bunch of tat, while the Gold Edition comes with the aforementioned tat and the season pass. No word on pricing yet for any of these versions.

For Honor is out on February 14th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
