It looks as if Sony has cocked up a bit, accidentally revealing the debut Star Wars Battlefront II trailer before it was due to be shown at Star Wars Celebration on Friday. Bad for Sony, great for us. It’s a bit of a brief clip, however it does show Star Wars Battlefront 2 is going to draw from the prequel trilogy and the new movies, including an all-star roster with the likes of Darth Maul, Rey, and Yoda at long last.
The blurb below the trailer, which has since been pulled from YouTube, says Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be a greatest hits of sorts, taking in all eras spread across the eight movies so far.
Towards the start of the trailer we also get a peek at Star Wars Battlefront II’s campaign, It’s set post-Endor, from the looks of it between Star Wars: Episode VI and Episode VII: The Force Awakens. You play as a female TIE Fighter pilot, which draws more than a few pleasing comparisons to the classic TIE Fighter PC games.
And, uh, that’s about it. There’s not much to glean on the nitty gritty we really want to know about, chiefly how Star Wars Battlefront 2 aims to improve on the streamlined offering of the original. It would be fair to say the original was fun in bursts but it hasn’t exactly proven its worth over the long haul.
Hopefully we should get some more in-depth footage when Star Wars Celebration rolls around on Friday, April 15th.
