Fresh off the success of hitting three million copies sold, Dontnod Entertainment has confirmed Life is Strange 2 is in development. The sequel to the smash-hit episodic adventure series has been in the works for the best part of a year now, with a separate team working on it those putting the final touches to Vampyr.

Dontnod revealed Life is Strange 2 in a special message to fans, saying “We get a lot of messages. One question comes quite often, on a daily basis I could say. It’s what are we doing at the moment, what are we working on? What I can share today is we’ve been working since the release of the box version last year, on a new Life is Strange game, with the Life is Strange team, and we cannot wait to share more about this with you.”

Obviously, three million copies is a huge figure for what was seen as a fairly niche IP ahead of release. It was a time travelling tale that was part Twilight Zone, part Twin Peaks, part teen drama, and ticked a heck of a lot of boxes. Three million units was enough for publisher Square Enix to greenlight Life is Strange 2, although there aren’t really any other details than its existence right now.

Dontnod has said Life is Strange 2 isn’t quite ready for show yet, and it won’t be at E3 2017 next month. With any luck, we should see something of Life is Strange 2 later this year.
