With Resident Evil going down the proverbial crapper before emerging as a tense, first-person survival game, the nearest we’re going to get to a fix of the sublime Resident Evil 4 is Shinji Mikami’s The Evil Within series. The original was bewilderingly met with a mixed reaction, and from the looks of the sequel, Mikami and the team at Tango Gameworks are tackling any lingering issues head on.

Bethesda’s just released the new Race Against Time trailer for The Evil Within 2, showing the various gruesome beasties that Sebastian Castellanos will have to overcome if he wants to find his missing daughter

Shambling monstrosities and flamethrower-wielding psychos aren’t the only evil players will have to contend with though, the likes of Stefano and Theodore are twisted people who have made their homes inside STEM, warping and altering the nightmarish world to suit their grim desires. The Evil Within 2 looks to be shaping up to be a fun time, if your idea of fun is being trapped in a haunted house, the scent of blood in the air, surrounded by the shrieks of victims.

The Evil Within 2 is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Friday, October 13th.
