Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus’ marketing campaign is an absolute joy to watch unfold. Once Bethesda and MachineGames got clued into the idea it could wind up a certain demographic to the benefit of its own game, it’s been a nonstop barrage of Nazi-slaying antics and troll bait. Sadly this all comes to an end with Wolfenstein 2’s batshit crazy launch trailer, although the pain is eased somewhat in the knowledge that it’ll actually be in our hands soon, milkshake Nazi ‘n’ all.
Anyway, this launch trailer really is something else. From B.J.’s battle cry of “Come and fuckin’ get me you fascist Nazi pigs”, a spot of KKK-slaying to get the blood pumping, robo-Nazis to destroy, and even a glimpse of Hitler himself should you tune in right until the end.
Curiously, we’ve got the launch trailer for Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus yet we still don’t have the system requirements. That would ordinarily set alarm bells ringing, but Bethesda usually reveals its system specs quite close to launch. The cynic in me is perhaps wondering whether any lessons learned from The Evil Within 2’s launch (and its lack of Denuvo DRM) are playing into what may be a potential delay. That's total guesswork though, so don't put any stock in it.
Not long now - Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus launches on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 27th.
