Ahh, the blissful iron of EA publishing a Star Wars Battlefront 2 Single Player Trailer the day after it ignominiously shut down Visceral Games for working on a single-player Star Wars game. Still, we must use the cards we’ve been dealt, and if Battlefront 2’s campaign is the only single-player Star Wars action we’re getting for the foreseeable future, at least it looks damn good.
You’re probably familiar with the basics for now but for those who aren’t - in Star Wars Battlefront 2, roles are reversed. As Commander Iden Versio, you must burn the Rebellion to the ground and enact revenge for the destruction of the second Death Star and the death of the Emperor.
My one lingering concern is that we’re now about three weeks out from launch and we haven’t actually seen any actual gameplay from the single-player portion of Battlefront. Evidently, the cut-scenes and the production values are top-tier, but we’re still unclear whether this is just a glorified trot through the same multiplayer maps or not. Time will tell, but EA and DICE/Motive are keeping their cards close to their chest for now.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is out on November 17th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. You can get in on November 14th if you pre-order, or even earlier on November 9th should you stump up for EA’s Origin Access subscription service.
