Crytek’s announced an ‘experimental’ PvP game mode is being added to Warface shortly. Yep, gold star for you, it’s, of course, a Battle Royale mode. This bandwagon’s going to need a few more seats at this rate.

Warface’s Battle Royale mode is going to arrive in the next update for the game, but it’ll be for a limited time only. Crytek’s going to take all the feedback and tweak and poke it before delivering the final version.

From the sounds of it, Warface Battle Royale is going to be a familiar formula. It takes place on the largest PvP map yet seen in Warface and will be suited towards large player counts. In Warface’s case, that’s just 16 players, which feels a little tame up against PUBG and Fortnite. It’ll also be solo-play only with dynamically moving zone shield funnelling players throughout the map. There’s a certain purity to that I guess, but part of the fun is hopping on with a few mates.

"Warface has a broad variety of game modes available," explains Crytek. "Some are more conservative and classic, suited to the 5-on-5 scenarios, whilst some others are more dynamic and perhaps even, arcade. With Battle Royale, we wanted to create something on the thin verge between the two, and here you have it: quick-paced combat with an element of the unknown — you never know which gun you’re going to get, with action taking place on the largest PvP map ever seen in the game."
