If your internet’s pipes are phat enough, Zenimax is running a free week of The Elder Scrolls Online this week. Only, I’m fibbing slightly because it started on November 30th and finishes on December 6th, so you’ve actually only got five days of draugr-slaying once you’ve got that 85GB install sorted. To say TESO is a big game is a bit of an understatement.
Naturally, there is a reason behind all of this, and that’s because The Elder Scrolls Online has just recently hit the 10 million player mark. A towering achievement after a launch limper than a guard who’s taken an arrow to the knee. It’s not quite World of Warcraft but it’s certainly moving in the right direction.
Should you want to log in and give it a go, you’ve got five more days of unfettered access to the entire base game, which is literally about 1000 hours of questing. You’ll also get 500 Crowns to spent in the Crown Store on whatever tat takes your fancy, while any progress will carry over to the full game, should ever choose to buy it.
Talking of which, both the base version of TESO: Tamriel Unlimited, the Gold Edition, and Morrowind are available for 50% off right now. They cost £7.49 / £19.99 / £19.99 respectively. There is an Elder Scrolls Online - Morrowind - Digital Collector's Edition but at the time of writing I’d recommend you avoid this like the plague. It’s £32.99 and doesn’t really contain anything of use above and beyond buying Morrowind on its own (which includes the base game).
Who's still on the fence about giving Elder Scrolls Online a go? Any eager fans impressed with how it's progressed over the years?
