Wow, this is a bit of a blast from the past; V-Rally 4 has been announced. The rally racing series was a big hit back in the PlayStation / N64 era but sunk without trace after the 2002 appearance of V-Rally 3.

Now, V-Rally was actually an old Infogrames series back in the day, and Infogrames has since been consumed by the atrocious Atari. Have no fear though for Atari won’t be getting their mitts on this one, V-Rally 4 is being developed by Kylotonn Racing Games (of WRC fame) and published by Big Ben Interactive.

V-Rally 4 features over 50 car models and several racing disciplines, including Rally, V-Rally Cross, Extreme-Khana, Buggy, and Hillclimb. A fully featured career mode is included for solo players, while full online racing is also provided.

As well as the game announcement, we also got the PC system requirements for V-Rally 4 nice and early.

V-Rally Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i3-4150T 3.0GHz or AMD APU A8-7500 3.0 GHz
  • RAM: 4 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 1 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: GeForce GT 730 or Radeon HD 5670
  • HDD: 19GB Available Hard Drive Space
  • API: DirectX 11

V-Rally 4 Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 3.7 GHz or AMD FX-8100 2.8 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB System Memory
  • GPU RAM: 3 GB Video Memory
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 780 or Radeon R9 290
  • HDD: 19 GB Available Hard Drive Space
  • API: DirectX 11

For WRC fans, these system requirements for V-Rally 4 are reassuringly similar to WRC 7. The minimum specs do take a bit of a bump, but you'll be able to run V Rally 4 just fine with a modest 1GB GeForce GTX 730 or Radeon HD 5670, both of which are now quite old and budget-priced. Modern integrated graphics should be capable of similar. The recommended GPUs are a hefty leap, and you'll be needing a GeForce GTX 780 or Radeon R9 290 to max out V-Rally 4's graphics settings. Three or four years ago these were top of the range, but now a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or Radeon RX 570 should achieve 60 frames per second without a problem.

On the CPU front, V-Rally 4 only requires a dual-core Intel Core i3 or AMD equivalent to run, while the recommended specs are for a more modern dual-core 6th Gen Intel Core i3. V-Rally 4 isn't likely to be very CPU-dependent, so provided you've got a dual-core processor with at least 3.0GHz clock then it should run just fine.
