The cat seems to be well and truly out of the bag now. Bethesda has been busy teasing E3 today, and a new message has all but confirmed the existence of Rage 2 after the Walmart leak.

A new picture has been shared from the Bethesda Twitter account that very obviously shows a Rage character.

Rage 2 is an announcement that I don't think many people were expecting, or even wanting, so all eyes are on Bethesda, and presumably id Software, to see how they're going to turn around a franchise which isn't exactly beloved.

But forget about Rage 2 for a moment. The best bit is that this would all but confirm that the Walmart Canada leak was real. That would mean we can also expect to see Splinter Cell, Just Cause 4, Borderlands 3, Gears of War 5, and potentially even a new Assassin's Creed game revealed at E3 2018. The latter seems particularly unlikely, but we wouldn't bet against the first four being announced in June.

It seems Bethesda is gearing up for a huge E3 this year, with Bethesda SVP of global marketing, Pete Hines, suggesting that E3 2018 might be its longest E3 showcase ever.

Hines’ words come shortly after Walmart appeared to leak the existence of Rage 2, to which Hines replied: “This is why we can't have nice things.”

Despite having the knowledge that Rage 2 is going to appear, it looks as if Bethesda is going to have plenty of other tricks up its sleeve. “#Bethesda Showcase is in one month”, tweeted Hines. “I’m starting to get excited. We have a lot to show you this year. Might be our longest E3 Showcase ever? Not sure, but it’s packed. #BE3”

The particularly exciting thing about Bethesda’s showcase is just how blank its slate of upcoming games currently is. Bethesda has zero games announced for the next 12-18 months, they could literally announce anything. In regards to this potentially being Bethesda’s longest ever showcase though, the focus is now on whether this means Bethesda Game Studios is preparing to show its next RPG.

On that particular front, the official Bethesda Twitter account has got in on the action. Cryptically, they’ve tweeted out a picture of Big Ben with the time whizzing forward, with the hands set to 5:14. Could this potentially be teasing an announcement on May 15th?

They’ve also shared the much more direct image of a rocket blasting off into space. And on the tip of the rocket? It's 5-14 again.

Naturally enough, this has sent Bethesda fans into a bit of a frenzy, with rumours swirling that Bethesda may be preparing to unveil its long-rumoured open-world sci-fi RPG - Starfield.

It could all be nothing, it could all just be trolling from Bethesda, but whether they wanted to or not, they’ve now set fan expectations sky-high that a new Bethesda RPG will be announced at E3 2018.
