Wolfenstein’s back, and this time BJ Blazkowicz isn’t taking centre stage. Developed by MachineGames, Wolfenstein: Youngblood is a new co-op first-person shooter set within the Wolfenstein universe and due out in 2019.
Youngblood takes place in 1980, 19 years after the events of The New Colossus, introducing a new generation of the Blazkowizc family - BJ's twin daughters, Jess and Soph. They're looking for their missing father in Nazi-occupied Paris, equipped with jazzed-up exosuits and a presumably vicious killing streak in their very DNA.
At the moment it’s not totally clear whether MachineGames and Bethesda see Wolfenstein: Youngblood as a major Wolfenstein release, or whether it’s a smaller package like the Old Blood expansion for The New Order.
In addition to Youngblood, Bethesda also teed up a new VR game dubbed Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot. It’s coming to PC and PlayStation 4 via HTC Vive and PSVR respectively, providing more platforms to “fuck Nazis”, according to Bethesda VP Steve Hines. I hope nobody misinterprets that message...
Nothing was really actually shown of Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot but it will be playable on the show floor. You play as a French resistance hacker who can hack the Nazi’s robots and turn their own machines against them. Basically, we’re talking VR Panzerhund here, which sounds terrific.
A couple of new Wolfenstein outings there, what are your expectations for this pair? Let us know!
