Microsoft gave an unusually large stage presence to Japanese developers this year, including the world reveal of Capcom’s Devil May Cry 5. DMC is a series that has, historically, had deep ties with PlayStation, but Capcom stepped up to the green stage to unveil its next action game.
Devil May Cry 5 is inbound in Spring 2019, for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It’s got two playable characters - Nero and Dante - who should be instantly familiar for fans of Devil May Cry 4. The story beats pick up right where DMC4 left off, and a demonic invasion is taking place in Red Grave City.
"Years have passed since the legions of hell have set foot in this world, but now a new demonic invasion has begun, and humanity's last hope will rest in the hands of three lone demon hunters, each offering a radically different play style,” explains Capcom. “United by fate and a thirst for vengeance, these demon hunters will have to face their demons if they hope to survive. The devil you know returns in the most over the top, technically advanced, utterly insane action experience of this generation."
Visually, it’s a very different look for DMC 5 than any of the games we’ve had before but there’s certainly plenty of flair on display. Director Hideaki Itsuno has promised Devil May Cry 5 is going to be technically excellent and is also the 'best feeling' Devil May Cry in the series yet.
DMC 5 is out in Spring 2019.
