Remedy’s new shooter, Control, was revealed this week during Sony’s E3 2018 press conference. Actual gameplay footage was few and far between though, although that’s been rectified by new gameplay demo footage released, showing eight minutes of Control in action.

Thomas Puha and Anna Megill from Remedy Entertainment were on hand during the PlayStation Live demo session to take fans through an in-depth look at Control. The demo in question takes place at the ‘Oldest House’, a strange place with constantly shifting rooms, constantly changing the dynamic of play.

Protagonist Jesse is equipped with a fairly powerful hand cannon to do battle with the occasional soldiers that get in her way, and Remedy has assured fans that it can be upgraded throughout the campaign. Her skills aren’t limited to firepower either. Jesse has a number of supernatural abilities, including being able to pick up and fling heavy objects at will.

It’s a game that has Remedy written all over it. Visually there are a lot of comparisons to be made with Quantum Break, while the greater supernatural elements call to mind the excellent Alan Wake. It’s all topped off by that trademark balletic gunplay we’ve come to expect from Remedy, complete with super slow-motion.

Control is due to launch in 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
