Cevat Yerli is the main man behind Crytek and he has been posting some tweets regarding the newly announced Crysis 3.
Among the tweets and press information we have gathered, Cevat suggested that Crysis 3 would look better on the PC, which is something we would expect, but to take this a little further there is already mentionings of advanced DX 11 techniques that suggest more focus for the PC version this time around...
It felt that Crysis was aimed at PC due to its capability of embarrasing anything but the most powerful hardware of the time. Enhanced optimisations meant that Crysis 2 would run on far weaker machines and could therefore be aimed at the consoles. Among other things, this led to more linear gameplay.
Cevat Yerli - "Crysis3 will push the 360, PS3 to its limits, ahead of Crysis2, but Crysis3 PC will be clearly ahead!"
Tiago Sousa, Principal R&D Graphics Programmer for Crytek, is also happy to reveal
"fans asking about AA: PC will have our new SMAA with all modes (T2x on consoles )+ Nvidia new TXAA + all MSAA modes +something new"
Tiago also went on to say
That there will be AA 'quality modes for the PC. These will be 1x, T2x, 2x and 4x. The T2x method uses reprojection+ weighting, and as a result of that, there won’t be any “ghosting” at 30hz. PC version will also support a combo of 2x,4x with MSAA.
This is exciting for PC owners who have a rig from this past year. Another tidbit of info was
“Extra new AA mode in research. About new DX11 tech, we have a lot going on, but can’t speak about it yet.”
The first gameplay trailer is coming from Crytek tomorrow, April 24th.
