The first demo of the recently-announced Star Wars 1313 has been shown at E3, and a few interesting notes have risen to the surface.
Firstly, as was perceptively deduced by one of our own GD journalists, the game will not take place in the Old Republic era, and is now confirmed as taking place between the trilogies, in what is known as the 'Dark Times' era...
In addition, we're promised levels that have a really 'vertical' feel, plenty of gadgets to encourage stealthy, spy-style gameplay as opposed to run-and-gun, and - perhaps most interesting of all - no force use at all.
While this last tidbit seems to expand on the already-announced non-force-using protagonist to include foes as well, we here at GD think that the Star Wars setting is rich and detailed enough for there to be plenty of room for adventures that don't revolve around force use.
The 'dark and mature' motif has led nay-sayers to suspect this to be a gore-spilling, cuss-word-laden departure from traditional Star Wars fare, but it's looking more like the maturity will reveal itself in 'shades of grey' characterisation rather than GTA-esque bloodshed.
This is one we'll certainly be keeping a look out for.
