It seems to be the way of future releases. Ubisoft are doing it with Assassins Creed III, and now THQ is doing it with Darksiders II. Cham0d recently reported on the pre-order incentives you get with ACIII from their Ubi store, THQ have announced that they are giving away complementaries with Darksiders II if you pre-order it from their official store, shopTHQ.
The complemetary is a Season-Pass. Yes, the one Rockstar is known to give it's players, for a very high price. What it includes is....
Free access to 2nd and 3rd DLC- of which nothing is known -packs when they become available, at no extra cost. All pre-orders will automatically be upgraded to the Limited Edition version of the game and that includes the first DLC, Argul's Tomb.. What is known is that these DLCs will include new single player content; mostly new dungeons and Argul's Tomb will come out a month after the game's release.
Asisde from the DLCs, the pre-ordered game will provide gamers a code which can then be used to unlock the exclusive Maker's Armor and Scythe Set. This set is said to feature upgraded stats and a unique design, something gamers will find very useful.
Jim Huntley, Vice President of Global Brand Marketing said, "We are excited to be able to reward customers who pre-order the game via shopTHQ with this great incentive. Not only will they get a unique armor set at launch, but they will also get significant free content for months to come."
For a company like THQ, who is struggling financially, this is a very good strategic move to lure in gamers and give its launch a boost it will need. Obviously, a good game will help it sell in the long run, so its business as usual.
What we folks at GD admire is the fact that THQ and Vigil Games are offering such a huge bonus to its gamers. In times when Publishers charge for a map(looking at you Activision........), these are good signs indeed!
Well guys, are you waiting for Darksiders II? It arrives in August 2012 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Wii U version is also in the making and will launch this fall. Do you like the sound of the pre-order shopTHQ is proposing? Do let us know in the comments below.
