Baldurs Gate Enhanced

If you were a PC gamer fourteen years ago, you’ll remember Baldur’s Gate. The first really successful attempt to introduce the popular tabletop RPG Dungeons & Dragons to the videogame world, the characters, places and stories of that great game are still discussed in taverns and alehouses throughout the realm.

Fast forward to the futuristic cyberpunk dystopia of 2012, and the aptly-named Overhaul Games are giving the old classic a lick of paint and then getting it out there for a new generation to enjoy on PC, Mac and iPad...

But there’s more. In a recent flurry of what the kids call ‘tweets’, Trent Oster (of Beamdog and Overhaul, and who himself worked on the original Baldur’s Gate) confirmed that there would be DLC. He was quick to point out that the entirety of the original Baldur’s Gate would be delivered with the initial purchase, however, and that all new DLC would be new content.

So more adventures, locations, and great characters perhaps? Will old-school nerds be graced with a new catchphrase as enduring as “GO FOR THE EYES, BOO!”? We’ll certainly watch this one with interest.

Are you a fan of RPGs? An old-school D&D player? Or are you sick and tired of rehashes of old classics? Tell us all in the comments section!

Interesting, I've played Icewind Dale 1 & 2, but never Baldur's Gate series or Planescape Torment. I'll wait for the enhanced edition, I really have no will to instal vritual Windows XP just to play those games.
