Steam Television In September

Salty or sweet popcorn?

Recently Steam announced that they are planning to deliver software as well as games via their online service.

To add to that Steam have just announced that their so-called Big Picture-mode for Steam will be in beta-stage in September...

Big Picture was already presented last year and should bring steam to more screams at and around your home. This can be done through your PC or Mac. You can practically use Steam on your television and scroll through menu's with your controller or mouse if you so prefer.

Greg Coomer of Valve: "There are games that work better with controllers, so these are played best in your living room. But everything (from Steam) will be present, so you don't have to miss your favorite things if you move from your bedroom to your living room."

Gabe Newell of Valve explains this mode is also very interesting for developers: "If you want to 'your hardware' run on Windows, that's possible. If you want to run it on Linux, then that's possible too."

Gabe didn't want to go into the topic of accessing Steam on consoles, he claims more information will be released on that in the near future. He also said there are no plans yet to bring Steam to the consoles.

I think valve shouldn't bring steam to consoles. the ps3 has already the PS store while the Xbox has xbox live (i think its a store not a xbox user).

No,you can't do anything with money. And here is something to prove it : Money can buy a house, but not a home.
Money can buy a bed, but not sleep.
Money can buy a clock, but not time.
Money can buy a book, but not knowledge.
Money can buy food, but not an appetite.
Money can buy position, but not respect.
Money can buy blood, but not life.
Money can buy insurance, but not safety.
You see, money is not everything!

Let's put it this way.You are sick, you have fever. You're feeling awful.Someone rings the doorbell, and your GF opens the door. The pizzaman brought the pizza, the best pizzas in your town. And you pay for it,but you can't eat it,because you're sick. This happened to me once,so i can be pretty confident the statement is true. :D :P
