Very recently the announcement came in that Command & Conquer would not have a singleplayer.
Uproar. Fans of the series had already been dissapointed to hear that this next version of the RTS classic was going to be turned into an online, free to play game. To a PC gamer this often translates into - a little cheap or possibly unbalanced in favour of those willing to spend money. Well EA realised that they were losing interest en masse and so they have changed their tune about the inclusion of a single player mode...
Frank Gibeau, president of the EA label, reassures us and says there will be a singleplayer for Command & Conquer. He says that the power in free-to-play is that they can constantly adjust it to what the consumers and players want. He says the following: "Does it mean that Command & Conquer will not have a singleplayer? No, that is something that we clearly heard is something important for people."
This still leaves us with an obvious question, will the singleplayer be included at the launch? Frank Gibeau has not stated anything about this, what makes me think that it won't. Maybe they never meant to include a singleplayer and now came back to it because there is heavy demand for it. At least now we know it will be there, just not when. Command & Conquer will be the first of a series free to play games to be released by EA. They said to be listening carefully to their fans, but the confirmation was needed after all the panic when the news about the non-existing singleplayer hit the net.
Are you going to play this game now, or were you going to play it regardless of an included singleplayer?
