Faster than light is a simple sci-fi that seems to do everything right. Its a single player roguelike real time game that puts you in charge of your own space ship.

This recently released indie title was put together by a two man team and even includes an awesome accompanying musical score that helps set the mood. It may be Sci-Fi themed but the system requirements for FTL are far from futuristic...

Faster Than Light PC Minimum System Requirements

OS: Windows XP / Vista / 7

CPU: 2GHz

RAM: 1GB Memory

GPU: 1280x720 minimum resolution, OpenGL 2.0 Support, and recommended dedicated graphics card with 128 MB of RAM

HDD: 175 MB Hard Drive space

Some integrated Intel HD graphics cards have been known to work but are not officially supported.
 
Basically this game is cheap and accessible even to netbooks. If you are looking to pick up an excellent indie title any time soon then this is looking to be one of the good ones. Our full review will be along very soon.

While I was testing Faster Than Light I got regular 600 FPS. The reason is that the game does not really have very much moving on the screen. Most of the time it is a static screen image of your space ship. So pretty much any GPU from the past 6 years should be able to get this game running.

They should have put 120FPS limit to reduce CPU,RAM,GPU usage, that's some kind part of optimization too isn't it. ;)
