Syndicate Wars anyone?

Dare we hold our breath and hope that the classic sci-fi Syndicate game is actually going to make a remade appearance in the near future?

It appears Electronic Arts has spotted this juicy classic and given it a boost of life. The rumors of a new Syndicate are flourishing as EA registered three new trademarks for the franchise.

A 2009 report from GamesIndustry.biz covered the Swedish developer Starbreeze Studios as working on a new Syndicate game.

It should also be mentioned that Starbreeze had one of its projects canceled in March by EA. Lets hope it wasnt Syndicate. Looking at the time line though it seems that Trademark registrations for Syndicate have been taking place since that point. Starbreeze Studios are best known for Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, which was a stealth success.

We will keep a keen eye on this one, as a lot of the Game-Debate crew grew up with Syndicate glued firmly into their Amiga 500. Let us know if you spot anything about this on your journey around the net?
